HFL flags
Each team registration includes 8 flags. Each individual registration includes 1 flag. Additional or lost flags can be replaced at the field for $10 per flag.

If there are specific days that definitely will not work for you or your team, leave a note in your registration. We will do our best to accommodate scheduling requests when building the season schedule.

Review the rules before playing
HFL uses the Canadian 5v5 flag football rules together with HFL-specific roster and administrative rules. HFL administrative rules govern registration, rosters, playoff eligibility, uniforms, flags, forfeits and league operations.

Frequently asked questions
Can I register without a team?
Yes. Register as an individual and we will try to place you on a team with available roster space. Placement is not guaranteed until rosters are finalized.
How much does registration cost?
Team registration is $1,599 and individual registration is $229. Both prices are all-inclusive.
How do I pay?
Send an e-transfer to info@halifaxflagfootballleague.com after submitting the form. Include the individual player's name or team captain's name in the transfer message.
When is my registration confirmed?
Your registration is confirmed only when the form and full payment have both been received.
When is the registration deadline?
Registration for the HFL Fall 2026 season closes August 31, 2026.
How many players can be on a team?
HFL does not set a fixed maximum roster size. Seven to ten players are recommended for substitutions and attendance coverage. Team registration includes 8 flags, and additional flags are available for $10 each.
Who can play?
The league is open to all genders and experience levels. Every player must be at least 16 years old.
Where and when will games be played?
Games will be played mostly at BMO Soccer Centre, with potential games at East Coast Varsity and East Hants Sportsplex. Weeknight games will generally be between 8:00–11:00 PM, with occasional weekend times. We will try to avoid NFL game times where possible. If there are specific days that definitely will not work for you or your team, include them in the registration notes and we will do our best to accommodate.
What is the cancellation or refund policy?
Registration payments are final and non-refundable. Registrations cannot be cancelled after payment.
Are flags included?
Yes. Team registration includes 8 HFL flags, and individual registration includes 1 HFL flag. Additional or lost flags can be replaced at the field for $10 per flag.
Where can I find the schedule, standings and player statistics?
The official HFL season website is coming soon and will include schedules, live player statistics, standings, results and league updates.
Which rules will HFL use?
HFL will use the Canadian Rule Book for 5v5 Flag Football together with the HFL Roster and Administrative Rules. Both PDFs are available above.
